Wearing a tie

Ok, since my male fans have been complaining that I don’t write enough about men’s clothing, I thought I would surprise them by writing about a simple accessory (for most of them), but a very important one: the TIE.

I have a thing for ties, especially if they are worn correctly and with style. Let’s take the first scenario, the skinny tie (imagine, even the ties for men are skinny…what’s wrong with this world?!). I love black skinny ties worn with a simple shirt. Blue skinny ties are also an option, but that would be one of the few others regarding coloured ties.

Off topic: Girls, if you are reading this and have a thing for blond or brunette guys, just remember, this post is about ties and not the models wearing them 

What I don’t understand is why men insist on wearing ties with cartoons on them. Seriously dear gentlemen, grow up  . If you are a cartoon fan, watch them on TV, but please don’t have them on your tie. What is the message you are trying to send when you are wearing a cartoon tie?!

And since I now feel free, having the cartoon tie stress removed from the top of my head, I say let’s switch to cravats. I must confess that I didn’t know the difference between a tie and a cravat, but now I do and I am willing to share it with you. This is how a cravat looks like:

I honestly thought this was kind of a scarf, but it’s not.My opinion is that not everybody can wear a cravat. It’s classier and more stylish than a simple tie, but if it doesn’t suit your personal style don’t try it. I’ve seen men looking quite fancy and chic with a cravat.

Ties are fancy and I know they may be a little bit uncomfortable, but if they look good on you, why not wear them? Plus dear gentlemen, whenver you complain about wearing a tie, think of  how we (the ladies, of course) feel when we wear high heels. So let’s call it equal if you wear ties and we wear heels 

I won’t go today to the bow tie area, I think it deserves a special post here on the blog, as it seems bow ties are quite in trend this year, both for the ladies and for the gents.

Just to draw a conclusion, you can wear ties even if your outfit is not business-like. You can choose a plaid or a squared tie for a smart casual look and be sure your outfit will be remarkable.

And don’t forget, don’t try to be cool, try to be yourself!
